Black - Reş - سیاه

Unknown places are always black.

Darkness and black are both inherent to obscurity. Black could be the Oriental in the eye of the Occidental or the after-life for an ordinary man and even the inner image of one's self beyond flesh. Every blink of an eye brings a black spot before our sight that is, indeed, more than a colour: an instant of colourlessness. And then, in a room vibrant with all kinds of colour, Black dyes everything into its own hue in darkness, as the herald of all sleep...

Melted in black, all entities preserve their own uniqueness while fusing in one single epitome. No black is identical to the other, as its presence shelters many a colours within.

Yet these are the times when everything's turned into one colour and all blacks are transformed into one tone, unaware of the shades of black itself, let alone recognizing the innate colours within black... That mentality wishes to build generations and a world of pitch black: in other words, an ugly darkness...

Black of the East will be different than the black of the West, while the black of the Easternmost will be distinct from the rest, as it happens to be the genuine "enlightenment of the black".

This performance you'll see is the outcome of performance and improvisation classes of the Department of Drama and Sub-department of Acting of the Faculty Of Languages, History And Geography "D.T.C.F." in Ankara University. The focus of the performance is the concept of East and West, especially the east within the East and the inner dilemma of the oriental man, where the effects of the lack of life experiences and the ethnic-cultural structure on man are reflected as diverse imageries. The footage is taken from rehearsals and edited accordingly.
